Smoking is the biggest risk factor for death in young people. It’s estimated that smoking causes 1,700 deaths a year in men and over 500 deaths in women. Smokers have 30 different types of cancer and are more likely to die prematurely.
Smoking has also been linked to an increase in diabetes, heart disease, strokes, and other conditions.
These statistics make it clear that smoking needs to be stopped but don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
What’s cigarette smoking like?
As we all know by now, smoking cigarettes is bad for your health as well as the lives of everyone around you.
But what does smoking actually mean? Well for starters, smoking will always be illegal in many parts of the world including the United Kingdom.
In Europe there are currently three major forms of smoking – smoking inside the home, smoking at work or workplace, and smoking on public transport or transport.
How does smoking affect my body?
Smoking isn’t just bad for your health – it can alter your body's organ function in very complex ways.
One way that smoking affects our body is that it changes the normal balance of enzymes – this means that your blood sugar levels could go out of control if you smoke. Other effects on the body include inflammation and weight gain.
What about nonsmokers?
If you smoke, then there are some people who are either completely unconcerned about their body or have decided they do not want to smoke and are willing to quit but can’t because they have asthma.
Some people decide it’s time to think again about getting into smoking – but they can be persuaded to try something new because they don’t think they have a choice. And some people decide that trying to quit smoking would be too difficult so they end up quitting altogether.
If you’re worried about others smoking then take action today and save yourself while giving other people hope.
The good news is that even though smoking is bad for them and for those around them, it’s possible to stop, so don’t give up hope.

So there you have it – how smoking can harm both yourself and others around you. That’s why you have to put all three smoking options to one side and try and live without smoking. If you do, then you can look forward to being free of the threat of contracting or dying from tobacco-related illnesses and diseases for the rest of your lives.
